AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOL POETS
JUST POETRY!!!
the NATIONAL POETRY QUARTERLY

CONGRATULATIONS!
It is my extreme pleasure to inform you that our judges have selected your poem as a Topical Winner in our 25th Annual National High School Poetry Contest covering the 2022/2023 school year. That's right, your poem! The one that we are returning to you with a copy of this webpage.
TWO LEVELS OF WINNERS
We want to thank you for entering your poem into the judging for this year's scholarship poetry contest.
From all of the entries we received in the previous few months we selected about 20 to 30 National Winners to appear in "AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOL POETS, JUST POETRY!!!, the NATIONAL POETRY QUARTERLY", and from which the scholarship prize winners will be selected. More information on how the scholarship winners are selected can be found at www.highschoolpoetrycontest.com/our_standards
In addition, we selected about 100 Topical Winners for publication in our upcoming topical anthology entitled "My World". Although your poem was not one of those selected as a National Winner, we are pleased to say that your poem was among the works selected for this publication.
"My World" will be a meaningful study of introspective poems written by teenagers for teenagers, which explores how today's teens view their world and where they see themselves fitting into today's complex moral and social issues. It is scheduled for publication by Jan 5.
We would also like you to know that less than 2% of all of the poems we will receive this year will be published in this anthology. We found in your poem a passion and sincerity that we feel others will also find worthwhile experiencing. Our goal is to share that passion and sincerity with others and to experience their passion as well.NO PURCHASE NECESSARY
As stated in our rules and entry guidelines, "No purchase of any kind is required to enter or win the contest." That remains to be true. We will publish your poem, at absolutely no cost to you, right alongside the most creative and artistic high school poetry in the country today.
You will find an offer on the form page for pre-publication discounts. This is an offer we make to all participants. Should you choose to do that, we would like you to know that all of our books carry a money back guarantee. If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, you may return all books at any time for a complete refund.
We realize that not everyone is in a position to place an order now and we want you to completely understand that ordering is not a prerequisite to being published.
TO HAVE YOUR POEM PUBLISHED
all you need to do is;1) Print out the Certification and Release Form at www.highschoolpoetrycontest.com/formw . This will certify that the poem you submitted is your own original work and that you give us permission to publish your poem in anthology form. (There is also a section on the page for ordering books if you would like to do so.)
2) Complete the certification form (and order form, if you would like to order at this time) and mail it to: Live Poet's Society, PO Box 8841, Turnersville, NJ 08012-8841 (Checks or Money Orders should be made payable to the "Live Poets Society". Press Release Form
3) E-mail the final version of your poem to Live Poets Society of NJ
email address is winners@highschoolpoetrycontest.com
. (This is not the email address that this e-mail came from.) You may edit and/or update your poem (within the realm of good taste), as long as it does not exceed the 20-line limit. Please check all spelling and punctuation. We will not change anything unless we are 100% certain that it is a typo.
THE SUBJECT LINE ON YOUR E-MAIL MUST STATE "My World" (without quotation marks), otherwise it may be misplaced. If you use the correct address and subject line, you will receive an automatic response from our representative when your e-mail is received. We may not pick up e-mail everyday though, so this may take a couple of days.
FOR SECURITY REASONS WE CANNOT ACCEPT YOUR POEM AS AN ATTACHMENT TO AN E-MAIL. It is necessary for you to type or paste it in the body of your e-mail. We suggest that when you type up the e-mail containing the final version of your poem, that you do so using the full screen. This way you can space it and end the lines exactly where you want them to be. We will do the very best that we can to print your poem exactly as it appears in the e-mail. (If you have trouble getting your e-mail to come out the way that you would like it to or you feel it may not have come out correctly, you may send a hard copy with your certification form, and we can use that to double check your e-mail version.)
Beneath your poem (on the very next line), please type "YOUR NAME, THE TWO LETTER POSTAL ABBREVIATION FOR YOUR STATE, AND THE NAME OF YOUR HIGH SCHOOL" (separated by commas, without quotation marks), exactly as you would like to have them appear in the anthology. (We may have to abbreviate some parts of your HS name depending on the way your poem looks on the page.)
If you would like to have your poem
printed with each line centered
and it does not come out that way
on your email program
simply type the word
"CENTER"
after the line containing
your name, state, and school
Furthermore,
NO POEM WILL BE PUBLISHED WITHOUT AN ACTUAL, SIGNED FORM (no electronic signatures or faxes, please)
PLEASE RE-READ YOUR POEM & CHECK ALL OF YOUR SPELLING before you send your e-mail.
***We still must adhere to the 20-line limit.
Because our anthology is copyrighted as a compilation of various authors you retain all rights to your work.
It has been my pleasure to bring this news to you and to welcome you to the Live Poets Society.
Sincerely,
Mr. D Edwards, editor

We have made it a goal to respond to all poetry entries in a timely fashion. We feel it is only fair that we do not make students wait unnecessarily. We respectfully ask, then, that you do the same for us by completing and mailing the "Certification of Eligibility and Release Form" by the Nov 30 deadline. Forms set in after that time may be held for the following edition. (We generally publish at three- or four-month intervals.)
